Online Alternatives to Pricey Bridal Dresses
Recently my children were asked to be bridal attendants in a friend’s wedding and we were deeply honored to have them be included. We then began the process of shopping for bridesmaid dresses and attire for the guys. It was during this time of planning and excitement that my husband and I began to realize that this was not going to be an inexpensive venture and that quite often the gowns picked out for the adult members of the bridal party were not age appropriate for children.
As we traveled from shop to shop with our friend shopping for bridal dresses, we realized that typical bridal shops varied in price based on the area in which they were situated. In more affluent areas, designer brands and prices of bridesmaid dresses were escalated and no discounts were offered. As a parent of limited means, this began to be frustrating for both myself and my friend and her attendants. We began to think of different alternatives and ways we could get around the expense of fancy dresses and alterations, but realized quickly that style would have to be sacrificed somewhat in exchange for affordability. Although that appealed to the practical side of me, something about it just didn’t seem right. Of all the things in your life that you can skimp on, wedding dresses should not be included.
