It All Stems From Bridal Dresses

Filed under: Bridal Dresses — Best Wedding Dresses Editor @ 7:05 am

If you’re having trouble visualizing your wedding, then I would tell you to start with the dress. The dress is the center of the whole affair. Wedding dresses will help determine the type of wedding you will have - elegant and refined? casual and chic? soft and romantic?- as well as dictate your bridesmaid dresses, other bridal dresses like mother of the bride and mother of the groom, table settings, flowers, décor, even color scheme. You are the centerpiece of the whole wedding. That’s why women fret so much over their wedding dresses - they have an innate understanding that this is the case.

Just because wedding dresses are pivotal, does not necessarily mean they need to be expensive, by the way. There are many beautiful, reasonably priced wedding dresses out there to choose from. The Internet is a great resource for this. No longer are we brides at the mercy of the local wedding shop for our wedding dresses. (They know that once they have you in there, they’ve got you.) Now we can comparison shop and even purchase wedding dresses (and bridesmaid dresses) online. I love the 21st century.

When searching for your perfect dress, my first advice is to have fun with it. Don’t worry too much, your perfect wedding dress, the one you were meant to be married in, will find you. There are so many styles and designers out there, you are bound to find one that best expresses the type of woman you are. This brings me to my second piece of advice: have your dress be a reflection of you. Do not try to be someone you’re not on your wedding day. The man you are marrying fell in love with you, so the dress that will blow him away, that will make his heart stop when he sees you walking down the aisle, is the dress that best reflects you and your unique, individual beauty. Even if this means you choose a dress that goes against the current trends, be fearless- you won’t regret it. Lastly, trust your instincts. You’ll know your dress when you see it; you’ll know it in your bones. Believe me, I’ve witnessed this knowing first hand countless times.

Bridal Dresses: Oh the Horror!

Filed under: Bridal Dresses — Best Wedding Dresses Editor @ 4:58 am

Shopping for wedding dresses is a lot of fun, when you’re shopping for the bridal gown that is. For all other bridal dresses (bridesmaid dresses, mother of the bride, mother of the groom, flower girls) it can be a hassle. The hassle primarily comes from the need to coordinate all these different dresses and women. Bridesmaid dresses need to complement the bridal gown and they need to match (or complement) each other. The mother of the bride and the mother of the groom generally do not wear the same color as the bridal party, but their dresses need to at least complement the color scheme and not clash. Also, they need to be different from each other. Then the flower girls’ dresses can either be white or the same color as the bridesmaid dresses or some other complementary color. And all the various bridal dresses need to match/complement the flowers. It’s mindboggling.

The bridesmaid dresses are quite often the hardest, so it is best to tackle them as quickly as possible. It can seem a near impossible task to find a dress that compliments the various body types of the women in your bridal party and the larger the party, the worse it gets. Fortunately, many designers are coming out with bridesmaid lines where the same color dress comes in variant styles. This is the way to go if you want your bridal party to be wearing the exact same color but don’t necessarily need them to be wearing the exact same style. I see more and more brides doing it this way, especially those with more than two or three bridesmaids. If, however, you desire fully matching bridesmaid dresses, then I would suggest looking for empire-waisted, A-line dresses. They are the most flattering dresses for all body types.

Wedding Dresses: The Importance of the Dress

Filed under: Bridesmaid Dresses, Wedding Dresses — Best Wedding Dresses Editor @ 11:02 am

When it comes to weddings, the dresses are oh so important, as we all know. Wedding dresses are so individual and are meant to reflect not only the style and taste of the bride, but also the type of wedding she is having. Oftentimes women want their bridal dresses to reflect the kind of woman they are or aspire to be. It is the image that will be forever stamped in both you and your future spouse’s brain whenever you recall your wedding - most likely a picture of it will be on your mantel for the rest of your life. (If not your mantel, then your mother’s!) All this is why you see so many brides earmarking bridal magazines, trying to get a grasp on what “their” dress is.

Magazines are great, but the Internet has really opened a whole new way of searching. The great thing about doing your research this way is that you get prices along with styles. Weddings are expensive, but wedding dresses don’t necessarily have to be. The Internet is a great place to comparison shop.

Bridesmaid dresses are important as well. Bridesmaid dresses are mostly about color, unlike bridal dresses, which are mostly about style. Although, oddly enough, the style of bridesmaid dresses are always the hardest part to figure out, mainly because women are not all built the same so finding one dress that flatters an array of body types is challenging to say the least. Many brides these days are opting for same color, but different style lines for their bridesmaid dresses to eliminate this difficulty.

Rest assured, ladies, you will find that perfect dress. You’ll know it the second you see it. That’s just how it works with wedding dresses. I’ve seen it happen a dozen times.

Wedding Dresses: Top Factors to Consider

Filed under: Wedding Dresses — Best Wedding Dresses Editor @ 3:31 pm

When young women are planning their weddings, very often the part of it they dream of their entire lives, and is the most fun, is shopping for wedding dresses.

Some girls travel from shop to shop looking for that perfect dress that they have pictured since they were a little girl. You may have envisioned something that looks like a princess or perhaps as you have matured, you’ve decided that something more simple fits your style better. There are several things to consider when shopping for your wedding gown and bridesmaid dresses. One of the most important factors is finding something that makes you feel special and beautiful.

It is very important when shopping for bridal dresses that you take into consideration your body shape and the clothes that flatter you in your everyday life. For example: the bride whose figure is curvier on the bottom may opt for a fuller skirt.

Another factor to consider is the level of activity you plan on doing on your wedding day. If you have an outdoor wedding, perhaps a long flowing train or a dress that is very ornate, may not be practical for a number of reasons; grass stains or weather being amongst the top two. Also, if you know that you will be traveling to several different locations throughout your day, perhaps something more simple and light may make you more comfortable.

Although many brides do not lean towards practicality when shopping for wedding dresses, it is a factor to be considered. Budget as well as style can play a part in the decision making process for you. There are many different vendors that offer special discounts for bridesmaid dresses when the entire bridal party shops at the same boutique.

There is also the option of online ordering that has become very popular when looking for your wedding gown. Many websites actually offer free shipping and have a wide selection of designer styles.

Savvy Maid of Honor: Bridal Dresses Online for a Fraction of the Price of Retail

Filed under: Bridal Dresses — Best Wedding Dresses Editor @ 7:58 am

When I was planning my daughter’s wedding, I found that there are so many different options available than when I got married. One of which was particularly astounding to me was online ordering of wedding dresses! I would never have thought anyone would consider doing this and certainly not my daughter. We had talked about her getting married her entire life and planned all of the details together. One of the things I most looked forward to was seeing her in her dress for the first time. I couldn’t imagine her picking out bridal dresses over the computer.

One day, my daughter’s maid of honor for her wedding called us and said that she was out shopping for bridesmaid dresses and suggested that we come over to the bridal shop and take a look. We loved the dress she had picked, but it was completely out of the price range for most of the bridesmaids, and with alterations it would have been wrong to ask them to consider it. So, of course as most brides do, my daughter fell in love with that dress and decided to look up the designer’s name on the Internet. Imagine her surprise when she found the same dress on an online wedding supply store’s website for a fraction of the price the local retailer was offering the exact same dress.

My daughter immediately contacted all of her bridesmaids and asked them to visit the site and place an order for their size and within a couple of weeks all of them had that designer dress that my daughter had fallen in love with. We found a local seamstress to provide a few alterations for each girl and they all fit beautifully.

Wouldn’t you know, a few weeks later, after months of shopping for bridal dresses with my daughter, she found the one, and she decided to look it up on the computer.

Before I knew it, she had ordered her wedding dress from the same website the bridesmaid dresses had come from. And they even sent her free shoes to match!

Diary of the Cheap Bride: Finding Affordable Wedding Dresses

Filed under: Wedding Dresses — Best Wedding Dresses Editor @ 9:22 am

When I was planning my wedding, my fiancé and I had a very tight budget. As sad as that may sound, it was a huge consideration for us, however we wanted to make the day as beautiful as we could for as little money as possible. It seemed overwhelming at times, and there were some things that went by the wayside. But all in all, we were extremely happy with the plans we had made.

One of the first things that we decided to do away with was a limousine service. Since we held our ceremony and reception at the same location, we felt it was unnecessary and opted not to use one. Of course it would have been fun, but really we felt it was just a waste. We also opted to have our wedding on a day on which most caterers are less busy, and found that they are willing to offer you a substantial discount in lieu of a Saturday affair which is most popular.

Another way we saved money was by ordering our bridal attire from a website that sold wedding dresses. It was not something I thought I would ever do; I am not a big online shopper, but it was so easy! And the selection was fantastic. Every designer label you could think of, free shipping, quick delivery etc… and the service was so good and quick that I started to order everything like a mad bride set free with a Visa.

Bridesmaid dresses, gifts for my attendants, shoes, lingerie, you name it, I bought it. It was one of the easier things I did to navigate through the entire process of planning my wedding. In fact, I would say that it was the single most time and money saving decision we made.

The Internet Has Changed Shopping for Wedding Dresses

Filed under: Wedding Dresses — Best Wedding Dresses Editor @ 5:33 am

Most women dream of their wedding day their entire lives. It is not unusual to find young women scouring bridal magazines admiring wedding dresses and ripping out countless pages of gowns they like. Sometimes, even the girl who thinks they won’t want a big wedding with all the bells and whistles is surprised by how that can all change when they begin trying on wedding dresses. The process can be exciting and somewhat overwhelming. This is especially true when you’re working within a budget.

Bridal dresses can range in price from $99 to the thousands. Although style and body flattering styles are often primary in the minds of today’s brides, quite often budget and time constraints win out when choosing wedding attire. Years ago, it was very commonplace for young women to wear their mother’s or grandmother’s wedding gown as part of a family tradition. However, styles have changed so drastically throughout the years, and while a simple cut gown can usually be reworked by a seamstress, some of the more complicated and elaborate gowns cannot. Further, wedding dresses in the past were not always preserved in the same way they frequently are today and can begin an oxidation process that can irreversibly ruin the fabric.

As Internet shopping has grown in the last few years, many brides find themselves turning to their computers for many different aspects of planning their weddings. In years’ past it was commonplace for people to go to stationers and have their invitations handmade by a calligrapher, etc… and these days, most couples find they simply do not have the time for those types of details. It is also very easy to explore online bridal websites to order anything from invitations to favors, take virtual tours of catering facilities and even order wedding and bridesmaid dresses at substantial discounts.

Wedding Dresses Set the Tone

Filed under: Wedding Dresses — Best Wedding Dresses Editor @ 9:12 am

For many brides, one of the most exciting and frustrating tasks when planning their big day is shopping for wedding dresses. Quite often their choices are limited by price and more often than not, they make their decisions according to budget constrains. In higher end bridal retailers, it is customary that the bride receive some type of discount when her bridesmaid dresses are purchased from the same store. Although for some brides, style, not price, is the motivating factor when shopping for a wedding dresses. There are so many choices available to today’s bridal parties, from very ornate, to simplistic and classic.

Although, according to trends of late, today’s bride seems to be split into two categories; the bride who wants her fairytale wedding, with all the bells and whistles, and the more economically conscious couple that decides to sink the bulk of their budget into location and opts for a smaller budget for accessories.

For the latter type of bride, there are many affordable options available when shopping for bridal dresses. It seems that quite often when flipping thru today’s fashion magazines, that any number of celebrity’s affairs run the gamut of style and expense. Most couples in the entertainment industry seem to be either hosting elaborate affairs that are usually attended by the elite of the entertainment world or remote location venues at which wearing either a minimalist type of dress or something much more classic is chosen to reflect the feeling of the day.

Since it is often the fashion for women who follow the trends of the stars to emulate their choices in makeup, fashion and lifestyle; it is not unusual to find them looking to do the same on their wedding day. Many of today’s couples go for a themed type of event at which they can inject some of their tastes and personality into their special day. For the bride, quite often, the wedding dresses chosen can help to dictate that theme of the event.

Online Alternatives to Pricey Bridal Dresses

Filed under: Bridal Dresses — Best Wedding Dresses Editor @ 7:35 am

Recently my children were asked to be bridal attendants in a friend’s wedding and we were deeply honored to have them be included. We then began the process of shopping for bridesmaid dresses and attire for the guys. It was during this time of planning and excitement that my husband and I began to realize that this was not going to be an inexpensive venture and that quite often the gowns picked out for the adult members of the bridal party were not age appropriate for children.

As we traveled from shop to shop with our friend shopping for bridal dresses, we realized that typical bridal shops varied in price based on the area in which they were situated. In more affluent areas, designer brands and prices of bridesmaid dresses were escalated and no discounts were offered. As a parent of limited means, this began to be frustrating for both myself and my friend and her attendants. We began to think of different alternatives and ways we could get around the expense of fancy dresses and alterations, but realized quickly that style would have to be sacrificed somewhat in exchange for affordability. Although that appealed to the practical side of me, something about it just didn’t seem right. Of all the things in your life that you can skimp on, wedding dresses should not be included.

It was then that my computer savvy husband asked me a very interesting question. He had researched a few Internet based bridal sites that offered highly discounted bridal dresses of all shapes and styles and asked if we would consider online ordering. Some of them even offered free shipping, coupons and extras such as a free veil for the bride and shoes! Although we were apprehensive, we were extremely happy with all of our gowns and would highly recommend that other people use this service.
